This is my step brother Duane. We grew up together after I turned 3 and I love him more than anything in the world. Some of you know my story and some don't, but I have lost a lot of my family and several to cancer. My dearest mother was my first and my most recently was my Grandfather. Now, here we are again... We are facing a huge challenge where the last option Duane has is surgery. Duane was diagnosed with throat cancer and underwent treatment. Unfortunately, the Cancer in his throat has come back and spread to the lymph node. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation to his neck the first time, leaving him with challenges mentally and physically. And because it was so close to his head/brain unfortunately they're unable to do those therapies again . The upcoming surgery on Dec 6th is our last hope to rid his body of the cancerous tumor and give him a chance to live out his life with us, his mother, his children and grandchildren. Sadly, when you're dealt the cancer card usually doesn't come with a pre paid credit card attached to it! As this 2 1/2 year battle has taken his job, insurance, savings and so much more... I am reaching out to my friends and family for your help. I am hoping together we can help ease the stress he has of making sure he can pay his mortgage, utilities, and some bills medical and others while he goes through this intensive recovery of a 10 hour surgery. He will not be able to speak or eat for a minimum of three weeks. He will be hospitalized two weeks prior to that. He will then go through extensive rehabilitation to learn how to swallow again after they rebuild his esophagus. If you have the ability to support and can give to this fund, thank you so very much.
