As many of you know, my beautiful mother battled breast cancer courageously three times and despite losing her to this horrific disease, it is hard to debate the impact research has on treatment for people diagnosed with cancer. A little over a year ago, I joined my neighbor in her 5:00 am walks with her dog partially to stay healthy but mainly to carve out time for myself and my own wellbeing. Since then, Dolly, another friend and her dog joined the crew and each (well, most) mornings, we roll out of bed and get moving. Three friends, three dogs, glowing vests, lit up dog collars, a 2.25 mile loop and lots of treats at the “treat corner,” we have ourselves a routine. My “why” for this fundraiser is for my best friend, my mom, honoring her bravery and cheering on those who are in the midst of a cancer battle. To raise money for the American Cancer Society, we’ll be walking 31 miles with smiles on our faces and tails wagging hard. Happy strolls to us and the biggest thank you for any donation. Much love, Meg
