Help me repair car and get back on my feet

Hi! I'm Robert Carter, and I'm trying to get back on my feet financially after a series of major setbacks.

Four years ago, I lost everything I owned in a fire at my mother's house. (She died in the fire.) Since that time, I've been trying to get back to a normal life, but the COVID pandemic made that difficult, and finding a job in my old line of work -- a newspaper reporter -- is next to impossible as the industry slowly dies. So I've depended on DoorDash mostly since then, which was okay for a while but inflation has made that a break-even deal. And then I wrecked my car a few days ago.

So I saw a news story about a lady in California who took to GoFundMe to raise money for her retirement, and it went well. So that's what I'm trying to do, raise money first to fix my car, then get enough money to go toward my upcoming retirement. (I'm 62.)
