Dear Film Family,

This past weekend we lost a beloved member of our community.

Dean McCann, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Dean was a renegade and pioneer in the film industry in New York. He took what he learned working in the trenches as a parking coordinator and locations person and parlayed it into a successful career at the Mayor's Office for Film and Television. He handled the politics of the City and the Industry flawlessly, always brokering compromise. Dean personally contributed to the growth of our robust industry with his committed advocacy and inimitable sense of humor and fairness. He taught us all a lot about how City Government works and how to work with politicians.

Let's celebrate his life and offer some relief during this time of unexpected grief. His gifts to our community are incalculable.
