Helping in difficult times (medical illness)

We would normally won’t ask for any help, not even say what we have been going through in the past months. Kirsten’s health got so deteriorated that she had to spent 5+ weeks at the Tampa Hospital/Children’s due to an eating disorder called Anorexia. It all started during the pandemic on 2021 with depression and anxiety, then it escalated into other symptoms that caused her to be in constant medical treatment, but it really didn’t help her so every day she was more deteriorated and after struggling with the situation for over a year her Eating Disorder Specialist decided it was time to take extreme action to save her life. Last March, her weight was 96 lbs. Kirsten was treated for malnutrition and drastic dehydration that caused her heart beat to reach a 41 beats per minute and they were fearing for coma caused by low blood sugar. Thanks to God after fearing the worse, then she was challenged by another threat which is re-feeding syndrome. We think she has already started to get out of the danger and is asking to do her schoolwork and more while the Specialists decide either to send her to an Eating disorder Clinic (to be able to overcome the anorexia) in a Outpatient or inpatient treatment in the next few weeks/months during summertime. All depends how she cooperates and helps with the treatment, it’s scheduled to start as soon as she graduates now in May.

This past weeks have been so difficult for all, even though we are trusting God we had our moments of surrendering and crying all out to God. The kids have been so strong and understanding of the situation that they have helped us with all possible, even though they were struggling with asthma symptoms and bad cough and congestion. I haven’t been able to work so the load of economic burden hit us hard because we don’t have family members or anyone near to help; and Harry had to be everywhere, at the hospital while I took care of the little ones and worked whenever possible to provide for at least the rent and basic needs…. But still it hasn’t been enough to cover for all medical bills and house responsibilities.

We met with a group of Specialists and the Social Worker to be able to find the best treatment available for her and by trusting God in His Word and promised that His plans are bigger than ours. We have only relied upon His Faithful and loving care… the Nurses and Therapist, the Staff has been so supportive that even they brought her a dog to visit and that gave her so much hope to get better and to have the motivation to fight for her well-being and to complete her goals, not only academic but in community and her next stage of adult life. She’s been cooperative and has been given the opportunity to enjoy her hard work by attending the graduation ceremony in which she’s expected to have a speech as Salutatorian of her graduating class. It’s been so hard, but we are just trusting God for a miracle of a breakthrough in her mind and understanding that her value comes as a Daughter of God, as a very talented and gifted person of value to the Community, and a beautiful human being filled with strength and capabilities to succeed in the next step of life: adulthood.

We are so grateful for your prayers and support… and many of You have reached out to ask us in what we need help! But until now we didn’t realized how deep we were in bills and debt, that we only focused on the health and well-being of the kids. We are so grateful for your blessings in texts, calls and prayers that it only shows how much God cares and loves us all. … We pray that what started with the pandemic in 2020 with the eating disorders it will be finished by God glorified in her life with a testimony of healing, surrendering and full dependability of Him. We are being strengthened by your prayers and kind support!
