Hi, My Name is Krystal and my Niece Reagan has been diagnosed with a rare progressive brain disease known as Moyamoya. Moyamoya is a chronic and progressive disorder in which the arteries in the brain are narrowed and/or blocked, reducing the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. This can result in strokes, seizures, vision problems, and cognitive impairments and can affect brain functions.
Reagan is a 17-year-old girl with the spirit of a fighter and a smile that can light up any room she enters. She is known as the person anyone can turn to when they need a friend, hug, encouragement. You would never have known Reagan was as sick as she is by how she acts daily.
She is an avid competitive Dancer. She is going for a regents diploma for graduation next year.
In January 2023 she found herself in the ER with vision issues and a debilitating migraine, Reagan also suffer 's with debilitating fatigue, numbness and tingling on the left side. The Dr. discovered that she has already suffered a mini stroke.
Despite all of this Reagan has still managed to attend school, keep her grades up and still compete and even win awards with her competitive dance group. She also teaches Dance class.
I am setting up this go fund me to help my sister with some of the financial burden she has already experienced and will continue to experience as they head to Boston at the end of May. When they go to Boston for surgery they will be there for 4 days and then will have to return in 6 weeks for follow-up. She will be spending the summer recovering from this surgery.
Anyone that knows my sister Christine knows that she isn't the type of person to ever ask for help. Reagan is much like her mom in that she doesn't want anyone to know that she even has this going on because she doesn't want people to feel bad for her. She sees this as just a little bump in the road. (of course this is all it is she will come out of all this even brighter then she is :) Cue all the positive thoughts/vibes for a perfect surgery and fast recovery.
All money raised will help cover Medical bills, Help with the trips to Boston and anything else that Reagan may need in this fight against Moyamoya.
Moyamoya disease affects about one in 1 million people in the United States. It's not curable but Surgery helps restore the blood flow to the brain.
