Hi everyone. My name is Danii, I am the mom of this sweet little boy Thomas.

We are asking for some financial support as we journey through the unexpected.

Here is his story.

Thomas is a two year old boy, he is autistic and the most loving boy you could meet. He has 3 brothers. Two older and one younger.

On Saturday, April 23rd his appendix had ruptured.. We took him to Innisfail hospital that following Sunday as he kept saying his tummy hurt and they discharged him saying his bowels were backed up and to take a laxative and deal with the blow out.. two days later he was worse so again took him back to Innisfail hospital and another doctor did x rays and blood work and again said similar to the same thing. Gave him a few doses of OVAL for gas cramps and sent us home. The next night (Thursday) I got a really bad feeling and told his dad he’s needs to take Thomas to Rd hospital that night because he was just lethargic in our bed.. that following morning I had come to see Thomas and his dad at the hospital and the emergency doctor there looked at the previous x rays and bloodwork and said his bowels are completely EMPTY and the walls of his intestines are so inflamed they are practically touching.

We did an ultrasound to confirm and the doctor called the surgeon at the children’s hospital in Calgary and within the hour he was hooked up to IV with antibiotics and we were on an ambulance here.

Thomas now has a really bad strep blood infection, Friday night he reached a fever of 105 but his body is fighting so hard. He has been given 4 different antibiotics now and has an abscess in his abdomen. They put a picc line in two days ago and a drain tube for the infection. He’s on IV nutrition right now as he has barely eaten. He ripped out 3 of the 4 IVs and has been through more things then some adults I know.

The infection needs to heal and then we will talk about his surgery for him in the following weeks.

At this time, we don’t know how long we will be here. It’s been 5 days now and things are still in the air on his progress.

My heart is breaking for him and the only thing keeping him somewhat okay is having both his mom and dad here.

We are asking for some help financially to cover the cost of missed work, (rent, utilities), gas and groceries to cover the house back home and for us here.
