She may look rich, but honey, we all have our secrets...
I'm excited to share that I'm bringing my latest show, The Poor Rich to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. That means I'll be performing all month at the legendary Assembly Roxy venue in the heart of Edinburgh. The brilliance of the fringe festival model is its mission of openness to all artists to take part and share their work, however, there are very significant barriers--one of them being financial. Fringe festivals do not pay the artist's way. It is up to the artists to fund their trip, accommodation, supplies, marketing etc to run their show for the month.
This is my third fundraiser to bring my work to Edinburgh Fringe and I will share that asking for money has never felt easy, but the pleasant surprise has always been how much love and support I've been able to see come out of the woodwork in the process. It's vulnerable and rewarding--not just in cash ;) but in seeing the community that ultimately uplifts my work and my journey to be a loud, proud, independent creative in the world.
The Poor Rich
Everything you make, she takes. Mother Greed comes in many forms, but in The Poor Rich she’s at her most unadulterated. Behold the mischief that runs our world in this hour-long examination of power, absurdly invented with the spirit of pure imagination from award-winning clown, Gemma Soldati. Prepare to be seduced, betrayed, and most of all—delighted.
Aug 2-27 at 10pm at Assembly Roxy
The Poor Rich was devised during an Artist in Residency program at Het Domijn in Amsterdam. It has since toured to The Bill Murray, The Elysian, 3S Artspace, Union Hall, Sweet Action Theatre, The Neo-Futurists, Bryant Lake Bowl, Majestic Rep and Ars Nova.
