Mike Little Recovery Fund

Hi my name is Amanda, I'm posting this GoFundMe for a co-worker of mine who is is a long road to recovery.

Mike Little, very hard working, kind man has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer. Mike had pain in his face/ jaw since August 2022 when he had his wisdom tooth pulled, which doctors thought was the problem. Mike went back and forth to doctors who continued to prescribe antibiotics that did not work. Mike continued to suffer and work through it.

On January 20th, doctors wired his jaw shut, as his diabetes made it harder for him to heal, they tried to clean up what they thought was infection. When this did not work Mike went to see a specialist in Halifax, at which time they did a biopsy and discovered Mike had Squamous cell carcinoma a form of cancer in his jaw bone. The following few weeks, months have been a rough road.

In March, Mike underwent a 15 hour surgery in Halifax, surgeons had to remove the entire left side of his jaw, cutting in the middle of his chin, to the hinge, at which point they removed his jaw bone/ teeth. They cut a bone from his lower leg and rebuilt is jawbone from his leg bone. They then cut leg skin to rebuild his gums and cover the bone.

Mike cannot eat/ drink, he is fed through a nose feeding tube and will soon be switched to a g-tube. Mike has not eaten food since January.

Just as Mike was planning to get home soon he was sent by air ambulance back to Halifax as he wasn't healing properly and the wound wasn't draining.

Once Mike is healed, he will need to begin radiation and chemotherapy. Mikes long term disability is not much and his dedicated wife, Lori by his side has taken a considerable amount of time off of work as well.

We want Mike to be comfortable and stress-free financially while he and Lori fight through this.
