Kelly’s total knee replacement went septic

Hello, my name is Nicholas. Kelly is my mother who unfortunately found out on May 1 that she has to have a revision of her total knee replacement that she got a year ago (March 2022). This has come as a shock to us both. We are deeply devastated, seeing as the process will most likely take two surgeries with three to six weeks between each. That means she will have to relearn how to walk twice.

Luckily, my mother does have healthcare insurance. Assuming that both surgeries will cost the same as the surgery last year, it will leave her $15,000 in medical debt. A breakdown of this number is $5,000 from the 2022 surgery and $10,000 for both of this year’s surgeries

The first surgery is scheduled for May 10 and doesn’t give much time to save money. I’m also looking for $10,000 to cover her house and car payments ($5,000 each) for the rest of the year. The additional $5,000 is for possible credit card debt that she may amass from covering expenses that her short term disability payments will not be able to cover.

My mother has not been one to ask for help, and she has always been a hard worker. She went back to work two weeks earlier in 2022. She was on track but got a UTI which got to her blood stream, and it turned into a deep infection that caused her to limp which continues to make it a struggle. She didn’t even realize because she is always willing to work through pain.

When I asked if I could post this, she replied, “Why? I don’t have any friends.” Please help my mother. Anything you can give will give her the boost to fight through these trials that she is about to face.
