Replace Mike’s stolen bike

Hi, my name is Jen and I’m fundraising for my husband, Mike. His Pedego Avenue e-bike was stolen outside of the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency hotel during a conference on Monday, May 1, 2023 (after he was misdirected by hotel staff to park it on the rack outside).

Mike loves biking and is car-free, so he uses a bike for regular transportation, in place of a car. Early in the pandemic Mike experienced some health issues that made biking more difficult. When he bought his new ebike in August of 2022, he was so excited to ride regularly again. Having pedal-assist opened the world back up for him after nearly three years of not being able to ride. His ebike is a mobility device for him and brings him so much joy. He’s spent months customizing it to his liking, and was so excited to ride now that the unforgiving Minnesota winter weather is finally more comfortable.

Mike immediately filed a police report for the stolen bike and is pursuing warranty options. We’ve also posted on a local Facebook bike group dedicated to bike thefts. Should the bike be recovered (we will know about the warranty claim in a month, June 1, 2023), we will pass along any donations to the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota.
