The Sunshine Campaign to help Kaitlin & George

Donation protected
FYI - When you go to donate, the website will say "Your donation will benefit Heather Brady" - that is certainly not the case. All donations will go to the Arnolds :)

Our beloved Kaitlin Arnold has been undergoing the fight of her life, with her resilient husband George (or Matt to some family) by her side.

The incredible news is: Kaitlin is alive. She has survived an experience which very nearly could have taken her life.

The difficult fact remains: there is a very long and challenging road to recovery ahead – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

We know the sun will shine again for the Arnolds, but many storms must past first.

On top of everything that Kaitlin and George have to face, they should not have to worry about finances. Many people have been looking for ways to help. This is your chance.

Please read on for more of Kaitlin and George’s story, and consider donating today.

Recently, Kaitlin was hospitalized for a severe infection that almost took her life.

On Wednesday April 12th, she was taken to the ER by ambulance with a high fever and flu-like symptoms. The infection caused her to become septic. Unknown to many, Kaitlin was pregnant with twins. In a devastating turn of events, the pregnancy was lost by the time she got to the ICU.

After that, several things were going wrong simultaneously, and Kaitlin was medevacked to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Due to a type of heart failure, she was put on an ECMO machine. And she developed a condition known as Compartment Syndrome in her left hand which will likely have ongoing impact to the use of her hand.

In her fight for her life, Kaitlin has been off and on multiple life support systems and has received half a dozen surgeries (so far).

For now, the worst seems behind us. Her condition has continued to improve, and she is off all of the major support systems.

Kaitlin has shown incredible strength and determination, refusing to give up in the face of this life-threatening condition. George has been by her side, unwavering as he helps navigate the unimaginable. We know that Kaitlin can make a full recovery and continue to be her hilarious, loyal, delightful self and an inspiration to us all.

But Kaitlin and George have many serious battles ahead of them, as Kaitlin recovers physically, and as they both process what all of this means emotionally and mentally, while missing quality time at home with their precious two-year-old Renly and while grieving the loss of their sweet twins.

Kaitlin and George should not have to worry about money at a time like this. Please consider donating whatever you can to help with medical bills, continued medical expenses, lost wages, and other needs. If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing this link.

So many have been anxious to help – this is our chance. Please show your support and love for the Arnolds here today.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

And now, a quotation from The Lord of the Rings that is meaningful to Kaitlin and George:

"I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer."
