Help Metric Entertainment Fund Their Next Film

Donation protected
Metric Entertainment, located in the heart of the Okanagan valley and following the success of THE PULL and TEDDY, is striving to become a pillar of the local film community by curating and creating content with local artists and crew. Spring of 2024 will be the start of pre-production on their third major production, a short film titled : ARCADE

Written and directed by Jesse Nelson, ARCADE is a story about the overcoming some of the hardest struggles in life through companionship and escapism. The story follows Lucas, a young boy struggling with a personal crisis who has been dropped off by his parents for a few hours at an arcade long past it’s prime. There he meets staff-member Jade, a woman in her 20s who is battling her own demons and trying to find her place in the world. Together, and through exploring the arcade, they find new perspectives on their battles and optimism in their uncertain futures.

This is a story based on Jesse’s personal childhood and experiences growing up in the Okanagan Valley, and the way that gaming and escapism molded his creative interests as well as who he is today.

Metric Entertainment was founded by five friends, with over 40 years of combined film and theatre experience, who wish to tell their stories and showcase the talents of those around them. In alphabetical order they are:

Jacob Wideman is always an entrepreneur and he has brought his business savvy to the film industry. He is both a locations manager, and operates an equipment rental business, providing vital infrastructure to the local film community for the past 6 years.

Jesse Nelson studied film in school, and is a founding member of Car Bomb Podcast and Car Bomb Productions. Every year Jesse produces a 24 hour variety show fundraiser for the BC children's hospital. Jesse has worked as an assistant director for 7 years.

Marc Nadeau studied 3D animation & visual effects and has worked in the camera department, visual effects and the editorial department for the better part of a decade.

Nina Bournival studied theatre performance in college, and has worked for 15 years as an actor. Over the past 2 years she has shifted her career to working as an Assistant Director. She previously wrote and directed THE PULL.

Zach Jones has been building and crafting for his entire life, utilizing his skills as a maker to build sets and props for both theatre and film for almost two decades. He previously wrote and directed TEDDY.

Pre-production for ARCADE is already underway as of Early 2024, with several weeks of prep planned for the spring followed by a two day shoot. Our schedules, locations, crew list and budgets are nearing completion. The funding we are seeking will allow us to feed our crew on set, purchase insurance for the production, pay location fees, and rent the equipment necessary to bring our vision for this film to life.

We hope that this film will continue to open doors and pave the way for Metric Entertainment to grow, and bring in larger productions in the future. Metric Entertainment aims to be a place for local artists to have a safe, inclusive, and affordable option for producing their content, and bringing their dreams to life.
