Making Raven's Dreams Come True: NYC Film Camp

Hello Family and Friends,

This past year I have encountered some unfortunate losses in my life that have tremendously impacted my financial situation. As someone who is extremely private and takes a lot of pride in being a self-sufficient, single mother; asking for help has never been easy for me. However, over this past year, I’ve been humbled by the undying support and unconditional love that my friends and family have shown me. Through their love, I’ve come to learn that one person can’t do everything alone, and asking for help takes tremendous courage and strength. So, as agonizing as this feels, I’m reaching out to my community for support in helping me raise the funds to send Raven to film camp this Summer.

As many of you may already know, Raven has been deeply passionate about writing and film since a very young age. Her biggest dream is to become a screenwriter and film director. This passion has been a driving force in Raven’s life for many years; it’s helped her through challenging times during the pandemic and middle school and has also helped motivate her in high school to make good choices. She’s worked extremely hard to get all A’s this past year and has been volunteering at the Olympia Film Society on the weekends to support this dream. Raven has been presented with an incredible opportunity to support this dream, by spending 4 weeks this summer in NYC at the New York Film Academy, to participate in a film camp. At the end of these four weeks, Raven will have made her own movie and will have acquired skills that will support future career endeavors, build independence, and gain perspective on culture. In addition, this opportunity will help strengthen her college applications.

All funds raised will go directly to paying for tuition, dorm room, and travel expenses. Please know there is no pressure to contribute and every small donation helps. Thank you for your consideration and for being a part of our lives. We love you.
