Deanna Morris Needs New Lungs #myrecycledlungs

Donation protected
Deanna is a 46 year old wife, mother, teacher, daughter and friend who is battling to survive and gain her life back. An immune disorder caused Deanna to have repeated respiratory infections as a child and young adult. By the time the disorder was discovered, years of infections caused masses of scar tissue to form in her lungs. The lungs were so damaged that they could not work properly. With each infection, the lungs broke down more and more. Each step and breath she takes is a fight against fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and interstitial lung disease- among other respiratory problems. Deanna is still working in her life’s work and passion as an elementary teacher. She fights to be there for her daughters, husband, dad, and family in any way she can. She refuses to give up and has always done everything in her power to just keep going. Although she has waited as long as possible, her only option now is to get a double lung transplant. She is currently waiting for lungs and hopes to regain her life through treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
The transplant will take Deanna and her husband John away from their home and family- daughters Nadia (16), Celia (11), and Lydia (8) and their pup Cooper (3). This fundraiser will help John and Deanna support their family when Deanna has to pause her career and John is limited while he cares for his wife. Deanna and John will need to live in Cleveland for several months post transplant. This fundraiser will help them with housing and daily expenses as well as medical fees not covered. It will also provide for the family at home, giving them a sense of normalcy while everything around them goes topsy-turvey.
Deanna is an avid treasure-hunter, thrifter and recycler. How ironic that her 2nd hand, “vintage”, recycled lungs can get her back to doing the things she loves. Thank you for considering supporting this loving family on their journey back to breathing easy.
