30yr old fighting Breast Cancer in need of help
Donation protected
Hi I’m Lindsey and I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) in August of 2022, two weeks after moving to a new state alone. I found a lump on my left breast and went in for testing and found out it was malignant. I was only 29 years old at the time of the diagnosis.
I’ve gone through 6 rounds of chemotherapy so far, plus 2 additional rounds of Herceptin and will have 4 more rounds after surgery. I have been doing Amazon Flex and Instacart grocery shopping and delivery since the start of cancer treatment. These are very physically demanding jobs and I’ve been experiencing financial hardship throughout treatment.
I’m scheduled for a double mastectomy surgery (removal of both breasts) on April 26th, 2023. This surgery requires a minimum of 8 weeks to recover from and I will not be able to work at all during the next 2 months.
I’m a very stubborn fighter, and have been reluctant to ask for help throughout the last 7 months of treatment. With this upcoming surgery, I’m worried that I won’t be able to pay for basic necessities, rent, food, and utilities as I’ll be out of work for an extended period of time. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this very challenging time. Thank you so much!
