Help Corvin Pay for Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
I'm Corvin, and I'm raising money to pay for my cancer treatment.

In November of 2023, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, after a long road of months of pain and unexplained bleeding. Finally, I was able to transfer my care to the University of Iowa Hospital and their fabulous team of gynecologic oncologists.

The exact details of the treatment plan will be finalized after an initial surgery in late December that will clear out my uterus of excess tissue, do a detailed pathology, and explore how much and where the cancer has spread. After that, my medical team will make the plan for chemotherapy and/or radiation, and plan for a hysterectomy.

While I have adequate insurance through the ACA, I had to choose a plan with a high deductible to find one I could afford month premiums on, and treatment for cancer is very expensive. I work as an adjunct professor, and in the fall semester of 2023, I taught at 4 different schools to try to make ends meet, in addition to taking on editorial clients. I am disabled from birth, and have a handful of other chronic health conditions, including Long COVID, which limits my ability to work. The school where I teach has a J-term during which I don't teach, and I'm not sure I'll be able to work while recovering from surgery and receiving chemo and/or radiation anyway, but it also means I won't have an income during half of December (for winter break) and all of January.

Any little bit donated is extremely helpful, and would aid my peace of mind as I fight cancer. My prognosis is very good, and my team is optimistic. Sadly, I'm more stressed about the medical bills than the disease itself, so I'm asking for assistance from my community.

Update 12/01/23
Thank you so much to all who have donated so far! You've helped me pay off a diagnostic surgery I had done in November. I will have another surgery to begin treatment of this cancer and address some of the painful symptoms either at the end of the month in December, or beginning of January. I'll keep you posted. That will involve general anesthesia and a hospital stay, so it will be more expensive. Please keep sharing if you're able to.

Update 12/7/23:
Today is the first night of Hanukkah, and I'm so thankful for everyone who has donated and/or shared the fundraiser. It makes such a difference and eases my mind to know that I won't have to stress about paying for my cancer treatment. Thank you, and Chag Sameach!

Update 2/4/24:
My next surgery is scheduled for 2/27 at the U of I. I have been on a variety of treatments over the past few months to manage symptoms and help treat the cancer, including chemotherapy pills. I'm holding up ok, though the chemo definitely takes its toll, and my fatigue is very intense. I'm teaching three classes at two different schools this semester, and it is a struggle to keep up with everything, but I feel optimistic with my prognosis post-surgery, and hope my symptoms will improve after that as well.

Thank you to each and every one of you for sharing and donating! Every little bit helps!

Update 2/26/24:

Thank you once again to everyone who has donated. I appreciate it more than I can properly express. Tomorrow, 2/27/24, I'll be having my surgery at noon central. I'll post an update afterward once I'm able to. Hopefully once I get the surgery and recover from the surgery itself, I'll start feeling a lot better!
