Help Dan through his MND journey

In 2021 Dan was enjoying life like most other 37 year olds, recently becoming a father of two to Logan and Willow, and moving into his family home with partner Jacqui. The future was looking bright. However, this was flipped upside down when he was diagnosed with the life changing illness Motor Neurone Disease.

Motor Neurone Disease is a Neuro Degenerative Disease (NDD) which essentially means Dan’s central nervous system is unable to send signals to his motor neurones, which are critical to being able to move limbs and control movement. As of yet, there is no medical cure for MND.

When we first discovered Dan had MND, our sadness was distracted by a sense of denial and disbelief, convinced his strong character could tackle anything - just like he did on the football field. However, this has been a slow and challenging journey, with the illness becoming more and more debilitating each month. Consequently, Dan has since had no choice but to stop working and adjust to a much less independent life.

Despite the physical setbacks, these past couple of years since he started having symptoms have also shown us the power of Dan’s positivity and strength to continue enjoying life. With friendship, love and community around him he has proven that life doesn’t stop despite a terrible diagnosis and prognosis and with an improvement to his home environment and access to alternate therapies anything is possible.

Dan’s partner, Jacqui, and family have been amazing. They are strong, loving and supportive -but as they embark on the toughest part of this battle, they will need all the help they can get.

The main objective of our fundraising is to provide financial support to cover Dan’s ongoing medical and living costs, alleviating some of the financial burden to give him more time to create new memories with his family. We also hope to help with holistic treatments, supplements, adaptations to his home and specialist equipment. This will also enable us to explore new avenues to help Dan and his family.
