Our friends and members of our surrounding communities in the Five Towns are enduring a really challenging and heartbreaking situation. Fighting every day to bring their beloved 15-year-old son back home to New York. July 21st, their son was secretly taken out of the United States by his father—the ex-husband—and brought to Israel without the Mother’s knowledge or consent. What began as a normal day, one where they were supposed to pick up their son from sleepaway camp ended in a nightmare no parent should ever face.

This is a case of international parental abduction.

The family was very close to their son. They shared routines, laughter, and love. But in recent months, his father—who has a long history of manipulative and narcissistic behavior—began to influence and alienate him. Behind their back, he obtained an illegal Israeli passport for their son and removed him during a time when he was vulnerable, confused, and isolated.

This move was not agreed upon. There were no legal proceedings in the US that allowed this. Their son was taken without permission and now he’s being manipulated into believing he can never return home.

Since the abduction, he has barely spoken to his family here. The father is controlling his communication, isolating him from his life here in the U.S.—his home, his siblings, his Mother and Stepfather who love him dearly, his friends, his school, and everything familiar. They’re working with attorneys and experts, but international custody cases are incredibly complex and expensive—especially under the Hague Convention.

The parents were originally married and lived in Israel where their two children were born. Three years after the divorce, the father agreed to give the mother full custody of the children for the purpose of relocation to the US. This agreement was not only mutual, but made in exchange to relieve the father’s child support debts that he had accumulated.

This heartbreaking situation has also deeply affected their son’s younger sister. Now, she’s had to endure the brother she grew up with, her closest companion, suddenly and secretly taken from her life too.

In one devastating act, the father not only tore a child away from his mother, but also from the sister who adores him and misses him every single day.

We urgently need funds to:

• Retain top legal representation in both the U.S. and Israel

• Cover court filings, translations, and travel expenses

• Work with experts in child abduction and reunification

• Begin therapeutic support for my son, to help undo the emotional manipulation he’s endured
