300km challenge for Palestine and Nepal

Donation protected

Hi!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fund-raising page. I’ve set myself the task of completing a 300km challenge in 2 weeks this June; I will be walking 100km, cycling 100km and kayaking 100km. I would be extremely grateful for any small donations, which will be split evenly between the charities ‘So The Child May Live’ and ‘Medical Aid for Palestinians’. If you are unable to donate then it would be greatly appreciated if you could share this link!

Thank you so much!

NEPAL COVID-19 CRISIS

Nepal has been hit by a devastating second wave of Covid-19. Nepalese health officials say the positivity rate in the population is at almost 50%, and by May 25th Nepal is projected to surpass India in Covid-19 deaths per capita. Nepal has only 1,555 ICU beds and 453 ventilators for a population of nearly 30 million. They have been heavily reliant on India for aid and vaccines, but India is in a crisis of it’s own and unable to help. Nepal has run out of vaccines completely and has sent out an international plea for more oxygen supplies.

Half of all donations raised will be given to the charity ‘So The Child May Live’ (their website is currently under maintenance). I’ve been helping STCML fund-raise for over 10 years, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit Nepal twice, and see the work they have done in Kanti Hospital. The money from this fund-raiser will be used to send oxygen concentrators and PPE to Kanti Hospital to help them combat the Covid-19 crisis.

MEDICAL AID FOR PALESTINIANS

In occupied East Jerusalem, 6 Palestinian families have been ordered to leave their homes in Sheikh Jarrah this May by the Israeli Supreme Court. Palestinians have been peacefully protesting these forced evictions, however the Israeli police have responded violently. The past 2 weeks has seen the deaths of 197 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from Israeli strikes and 8 people in Israel from Hamas rockets.

Half of all donations raised will be given to the charity ‘Medical Aid for Palestinians’. MAP are using donations to respond to the current emergency across occupied Palestine to ensure Palestinian civilians get the medical aid they need, and to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic. MAP is an on the ground group with offices in in the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem, Lebanon and London. They work with communities, hospitals and healthcare providers to co-ordinate care and medical aid. I’ve heard about how difficult conditions under occupation are from my mum, a burns surgeon, who has been to the West Bank in Palestine three times since 2017, and worked with Interburns for MAP in three hospitals to carry out teaching and training, and develop a new burns unit.
