About a year ago today, I was so frustrated with the state of affairs in this country (more specifically racism in all forms) that I decided to use that anger and fuel it towards my longest run to date: 29 miles for justice on my 29th birthday.
What came out of that was the driving force that will allow me to continue this fight for justice for hopefully many more years to come.
People showed up. Someone laid out the map, someone brought the fuel, someone hopped on a bike and snapped some pics, and so many came to run because they too cared. They too were frustrated, and I believe that they too knew that at the end of the day, doing was something was better than doing nothing. It encapsulated the power of community as a driving force for GOOD.
So here I am, pledging again a year later. 30 miles for justice. 30 miles for 30 years of my life on Saturday, June 12th. Hoping to raise funds for the ACLU once again because I think it's very fair to say the fight for justice isn't over. Previously a paralegal in the nonprofit legal word, I know how essential lawyers in this space are to securing human and civil rights for all and my heart goes out to those warriors on the frontlines. Together I truly feel like we can make a difference.
If you read this, I thank you for getting this far. If you can support, please do. But remember, support comes in many forms so showing up day of is just as good a contribution. Run a mile, two, or all 30 with me. We each have a unique gift to share in this fight for change. Let’s GO <3
More information about ACLU Foundation: For nearly 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has been our nation's guardian of liberty, working in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and the laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.
