30 Mile Dog Walk for American Cancer Society

This year, I wanted to celebrate my dog Lexie's birthday in a way that would mean more than just treats and toys. Lexie has been by my side through life's highest peaks and lowest lows -- her unconditional loyalty and joy has inspired me in so many ways that it shocks me at times.

So, on her special day, we're taking a walk. Not just any walk.. but a 30-mile journey together. Every step we take will be in support of the American Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to creating a world without cancer.

Why this cause? Because cancer has touched too many lives -- friends, family, neighbors -- and it continues to affect millions each year. I wanted to do something tangible, something that pushes me out of my comfort zone, to raise awareness and support the fight for better research, treatments, and hope for those battling the disease.

Lexie may not understand exactly why we're walking so far, but she will understand that we're doing it together. And personally, that's the perfect way to celebrate her life--by making a difference in someone else's.
