Hi,
My name is Kyle. I am a local business owner, Delta Tire and Auto Repair in Burton, the Bendle district, and I am also an anesthesia provider. As a local, family-owned business, we aim to take care of the community in every way we can. Right now these kids and their families need our help. On Friday, May 5, 2023, three teens were in a rollover accident, weeks before graduation. I spoke to the parents/guardian of two of the teens and got permission to share pictures and information on the status of the teens and permission to create a gofundme and to create any other crowdfunding opportunities to raise money for them during this critical time.
The following description is graphic. All monies raised (100% minus whatever fees Gofundme takes) will go towards anything the kids need. They have a long recovery ahead of them, so the expenses are going to be endless. The two teens in which I spoke to their parent/guardian are currently in critical condition. One of the boys has serious, life-threatening, potentially life-changing injuries. He is currently in an induced coma due to a brain bleed, broken neck etc. The other boy has many fractures, and a collapsed lung, but I was told he is stabilizing. This teen will have surgery in about a week on the many fractures once the lungs are in better condition.
I quote from the first boy's parents with permission (Miguel):
"Miguel is still critical but for now stable. he currently has a bolt in his skull reducing the swelling in his brain. his neck is broken and is stable in the neck collar for now. they are still debating the halo. his lung partially collapsed but is reinflated now so hopefully the chest tube can come out soon. he's on a breathing machine due to being heavily sedated as you know. his left wrist is broken and his elbow is dislocated. his right hand has boxer fractures under the pinky and next digit. multiple broken toes on each foot."
I quote from the second boy's parents with permission (Ayden):
"We didn't get intubated only Miguel, he has a broken collar bone, rt hand, rt humerus head fracture, shattered shoulder, broken ribs, pneumo and bilateral contusion, sternum bruised, bilateral eyes bleeding, and abrasions everywhere, and concussion. They can't do surgery for a week."
As you can see, these boys have a long road ahead of them. If you can't donate anything, please just say a prayer for them, especially Miguel as his condition is still very critical and there is a lot of unknown.
The reason I have created this fundraiser:
1. My family members, including myself, are alumni of Bendle. Throughout the year we help many Bendle families and have a relationship with the leaders of the schools who know if a student is in need or trouble, to reach out to us and we will help.
2. We are a local, family-owned and operated business and have been in the community since 1969. My family believes we must take care of our community as it is the community that has kept us going all these years.
3. I have a long history with the families and have known people in their families since grade school.
4. One of the kid's parents/guardians is a Registered Nurse at McLaren-Flint. Not only did I know her from being friends with her son in high school, but I worked with her for years. This is nurses' week. This is not the nurse's week appreciation that she deserves for her 20+ years of taking care of our community. Let's take care of her for a change!!!
5. In 2016, my 16-year-old cousin, Katie Krajniak, a Bendle student, was in an accident with other teens her age. She was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to the trauma center where I was employed as an Anesthesia provider, providing anesthesia for traumas just like hers. Thankfully, I was not working; however, in the very halls I walked through while working, I was now walking and pacing back and forth as she underwent emergency surgery. I begged and pleaded. I felt helpless and hopeless. Unfortunately, she did not make it out of the operating room. This happening to these Bendle kids has tugged at my heartstrings and I feel like I need to do something. The last thing the families need to worry about right now is money, so if you can contribute, thank you so much. If not, please just say a prayer.
