3 good mates, inspired by a mutual friend, have been accepted into the current season of Wimp 2 Warrior.
The Wimp 2 Warrior program transforms beginners with “little-to-no” athletic background into proficient MMA fighters. In 22 weeks, training every weekday morning, the three of us will conquer mental and emotional limitations, whilst building our warrior spirit and physique. At the end of the camp, as newly formed fighters, we will step into the cage to fight in a fully sanctioned amateur MMA bout.

Men's mental health, suicide prevention and general well being are topics close to all of our hearts. As we have all been affected by these in different ways, throughout our journey we would like to highlight the struggle that many men go through and in doing so encourage conversation and support.
Through our pain and adversity, we would also like to raise money for a couple of charities/initiatives that we feel strongly about. We all have our own story and motivation but will try to briefly summarise below.
----------
TARAN
As a coach for American Football Club the Croydon Rangers, Taran was involved with their Junior football program. Early this year, one of their former players by the name of Dane Franic, a 20 year old with the world seemingly at his feet took his own life after battling Anorexia and depression. It was only that during his girlfriend’s emotional eulogy that the timeline of chronic bullying they both endured during school emerged.
Over the years Taran has battled with mental illnesses both first hand and with family members. Taran initially approached Steve and Jordan about raising money for Dane’s charity “Make Dane Proud”.
“It was such a shock and a tragic loss of a young life. Dane’s passing made me reflect a lot about life. Nobody should ever be pent up to the point where they no longer want to live, but unfortunately, some people do. I’ve only really learnt the last year or two that it’s ok to put my hand up and say ‘I’m struggling’. I’ve always treated my own mental health as a negative, dark thing I have been reluctant to talk about because of embarrassment and shame. Through W2W I’ll be sharing a very candid Taran, that only a couple of my closest friends have heard about. I’m glad I also have such passionate friends that are not just helping contribute to Dane’s charity but aligning this concept with charities close to their heart.”

STEVE
Steve has struggled for years with Anxiety and everything that comes along with it. He also just experienced the 10 year anniversary of a much-loved friends suicide, someone loved by many that he still struggles with the loss of.
He is very passionate about people having and using their voice, in open discussion, in tearing down the barriers and stigma around mental health discussion.
He believes in people supporting each other, listening to each other and helping each other through anything they may be going through.

JORDAN
As someone who has been directly impacted by both male suicide and depression, I felt it important to use my W2W journey to shed a light on these issues.
Through this program, not only do I hope to better myself both physically and mentally, but I also hope to show others that it's something they have inside of themselves too.
Day in, day out, all of us are fighting our own personal fight. It's the fact that not everyone realises it's okay to ask for help.
Throughout this whole process, we will be documenting our journey and providing many hilarious updates. In embarking on this crazy journey, we are aiming to raise some funds for two extremely worthwhile charities.
Eating Disorders Victoria, through Make Dane Proud: https://give.everydayhero.com/au/make-dane-proud
The Black Dog Institute: https://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/
All funds raised through this GoFundMe page will be split evenly between the two charities.
