Darlene & Brad. Survived flood #3
Donation protected
My mother Darlene, has been one of the most unluckiest women I know. She hasn't been able to catch a break. She has been thru losing a child, raising a special needs disabled child on her own who has been sick for last few years, numerous fires, and now, yet another, devastating flood. Flood #3. Earlier this year, I helped my mother turn her living room into a bedroom for my brother, Bradley. He has been too sick to travel far from his bed to the bathroom. So, we moved all her first floor items, to the basement. Office, laundry storage, Brad's medical supplies, etc. Before she was rescued by authorities via canoe, the water was already above 8 feet. No one can predict natural disasters. My mom has taken every precaution to minimize damage and the lost of all household belongings time and time again. She would never by nice things. Why, because according to her "What's the point, if you are going to lose it all anyways." Only a few family photos has survived over the last disasters and those are now gone. Surviving the flood is one thing, but cleaning after it and rebuilding is a whole different story. Cleaning in the mud, throwing everything away, buying cleaning supplies and rebuilding is a long process. Reliving the flood over and over again. When someone asks for paperwork that was in her office-which is now nonexistent. She is a strong woman, but this one hurts. Cleaning and rebuilding is something they should not do alone. We are here for them.
