July 15th will mark the one year anniversary of my prostate surgery / being cancer free. As I have said to many of you I have been very fortunate to be able to “close the book” on this chapter of my life. However, there are 3 people I know on different levels who are currently dealing with various stages of prostate cancer. For this reason I am planning to do a charity walk on Friday July 15th to let these 3 specific individuals know that “WE GOT THIS” My goal is to raise $5,000 and provide them a "We Got This" envelope with a little bit of cash that they can use to buy gas on the way to their next doctor’s appointment or perhaps dinner and bottle of wine if they are having a tough day. This is about getting as many people involved as possible to reach $5,000. For this reason I am placing a maximum donation of $50.  The key is that every time they reach into the envelope they are reminded that they have the support of MANY family members, friends, co-workers, and even total strangers. Together, WE GOT THIS!

The walk is going to take place in the Tannery parking lot in Newmarket. My goal is to walk 53,000 steps. (same number of steps as my age…………..this may become a two day event when I get to 80 years old ) I am going to walk 30 minutes out from the Tannery on the walking / bike path and 30 minutes back. I am starting at 7:00am and hope to be done by 3:00pm. I am going to take the first hour (7:00am – 8:00am) and walk by myself to pay my respects to people like my father who also battled cancer.  I am also walking with my “biggest fan” Darcia for the last hour (2:00pm – 3:00pm) If any of you will be “in the neighborhood” and want to get some exercise / keep me company for an hour you are more than welcome to join me any time between 8:00am and 1:00pm.

Also, we have booked time at the Market Brewing Company in Newmarket from 4:00pm – 6:00pm if you would like to join Darcia and I for a cold beverage after the walk. (please let me know if you are attending by June 30th so we can give a final head count to Market Brewery)
