Kelly Gabriele:Paramedic-Needs YOUR help this time
Hi, my name is Danielle Burnett and I am raising money for my sister-in-law, Kelly Burnett (Gabriele).
Kelly is 38 years old, mom to 15 year old son, Avery, and has been married for 8 months to David. Kelly works in the medical field as the DC of specialized services, overseeing the Critical Care Transport team and the Mobile Integrated Health team. She is responsible for the daily operations, staffing, education, marketing, contracting, and budgeting of both departments. Kelly also oversees the infectious disease response, which includes coordinating the agency's response to COVID. She is also a founding member of the AAS Peer Support Team, and functions as the Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator for AAS. She is a licensed Paramedic and gives her life to serve others.
Kelly was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). (On top of already having MS). This is an aggressive cancer that grows quickly and must be treated very aggressively. Diagnosis of AML is uncommon in people under 40 years of age. AML is a DNA mutation in the stem cells in the bone marrow.
Her diagnosis came as quite an unfortunate surprise to our whole family. She is being sent to Houston for chemo treatment on Monday morning, August 30th, and a possible bone marrow transplant. Right now we do not know how long she will have to be there or how they will pay for all the abrupt medical expenses. Unfortunately due to finances and COVID, neither David or Avery will be able to go to Houston with her. Both Kelly and David are civil servants. They both dedicate their lives to others, Kelly as a Paramedic and David as a middle school teacher. Family is extremely important to them as well. Being surrounded by your loved ones during a medical crisis is often the first part of the cure, but right now, our family does not have that option. Kelly is also the loving adopted mother of 6 fur babies and a blind snake. Yes , a blind snake.
How does your donation will help:
It will help pay for Kelly’s medical expenses, which includes treatments and transportation to and from Houston.
It will hopefully help pay for David and Avery to visit Kelly during Treatment. It would help pay for their transportation and hotel room.
It will help assist in living expenses due to missing wages.
It will help cover any unforeseen costs Kelly might have while in Houston.
This came on suddenly and has left Kelly and our whole family reeling. In a matter of days, Kelly went from having no diagnosis, to being given blood transfusions, to being suddenly whisked away to Houston for tests, sent home, then told to return to Houston. Any support you offer Kelly is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small.
