Help Sri Lanka Recover From Its Worst Environmental
Disaster Since the 2004 Tsunami
Sri Lanka has experienced its worst environmental disaster since the 2004 tsunami with Cyclone Ditwah. Four consecutive days of typhoon-driven rain battered the island, unleashing a humanitarian crisis of heartbreaking scale. It has displaced over a million people into 800 relief centers nationwide, overwhelming the country’s infrastructure according to Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Center. All major rivers burst their banks, and floodwaters—surging from overflowing rivers and reservoirs—swept across entire districts. Massive landslides buried entire villages as people slept in their homes, while flash floods engulfed public transport, trapping passengers in submerged buses. Schools have shut down. Hospitals—already strained—are now flooded. Emergency shelters are overflowing far beyond capacity, while the death toll continues to rise. An equally terrifying
threat looms in stagnant water and unsanitary conditions, where diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and cholera are poised to spread rapidly. Without swift intervention, the loss of life could grow exponentially in the coming weeks.

Where Your Donations Are Going
Once we reach the campaign target or sooner if urgent funds are needed, the donations will be transferred from the GoFundMe account to my personal account listed with the campaign, solely for the purpose of forwarding all collected funds directly to the official Sri Lankan Government Disaster Relief Account. This account is maintained by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka under the authority of the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury.
No portion of the funds will be retained for personal use or administrative expenses. The full amount will go toward government-managed disaster-relief efforts, including emergency supplies, food, temporary shelter, recovery assistance for affected families, and long-term rebuilding in the hardest-hit areas. We will not be purchasing any items ourselves.
Every dollar will directly support flood victims who have lost their homes and livelihoods. All funds will be transferred through a legitimate, bank-to-bank international wire transfer to ensure complete transparency and accountability.
This Is a Moment for Compassion. Your support can be the difference between despair and survival.
Between hunger and comfort. Between fear and the possibility of rebuilding.
Please stand with Sri Lanka by helping us bring relief to over a million people who are suffering.
