On September 23rd 2022 I gave birth to identical twin boys. They were mono di twins meaning they shared a placenta. Baby B (Levi) was also missing a artery in his umbilical cord. Sharing only 1 placenta meant there was not enough nutrients to begin with and missing an artery meant that Levi was not getting the nutrients he needed. They came early because it got to the point that the nutrients he was getting just was not enough. If I did not deliver and he passed Baby A (winter) would pass to since they shared blood vessels. They were born 2 months early their due date was November 30th. Levi was 1 1/2 pounds at birth and winter was 3 lbs and a quarter. Levi's first day on this planet he had to have surgery because he had a meconium plug. Levi's lungs did not mature the way that they were supposed to leading to him needing more and more oxygen support. Winter was released from the NICU at mary bridge in Tacoma WA November 19th. While winter was released he stayed with mom who stayed at the hospital with them since day 1. Mom stayed in room with the twins and lived there. The hospital staff brought in an extra crib for winter so he could stay with mom after discharge. Hopes were high that Levi would be discharged soon so we could all go home. In March of 2023 discussions of Levi getting a trach started. On March 16th he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit at mary bridge. He started to do better and everyone thought that he was no going to need the trach. He went down on oxygen support and left the PICU for the normal hospital floor 2 days after being transferred to the PICU. About a week after leaving the PICU and being stable on low oxygen support things started getting bad. Be couldn't keep oxygen levels up and things started to deteriorate. He needed more and more oxygen support and got transferred back to the PICU. After being in the PICU for a couple of days oxygen got lower and lower as heart rate got higher and higher. They had to intubate him and put him on a ventilator to keep him alive. He had to have the trach surgery once that happened. He was incubated for about a month before he became stable enough for the trach surgery. On April 11th he had his trachea surgery. Mom has been here every day for him. On April 25th my car got stolen from the mary bridge hospital parking garage. In that car I had a ton of new baby clothes, diapers, wipes, 15 cans of formula, my clothes, my breast pump, new baby toys, and so much more. I was living out of the car since I have been staying here at the hospital for 8 months. I live a hour and a half away in Aberdeen Washington and I need a vehicle to be able to go back and forth from home. I only had that car for a year so my best hope is that my insurance will pay it off in full to the bank so i don't owe any more on the car. That being said im not going to get ANYTHING back from my insurance for the car. My insurance is partially paying for a rental but once they total my car they will stop paying their part. I have not been able to work so I can be here with my son. It's so important for him to have his mom here. I never expected him to be in the hospital for this long and I'm starting to run out of savings. I need help to pay for a rental car and to replace some items I lost in the car. I also need help paying some bills back home and buying necessities to live up here in Tacoma. Social services here at the hospital helps with some gas cards and some food vouchers but I need help with the other stuff. If you can help with anything it would mean the world to me and Levi. He is the sweetest baby in the world and needs all of the love he can get right now. Being here with him until he can come home is the most important thing in the world to me. Anything helps us right now.
