Micah's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On July 8, 2022, my sister Melissa was awoken at 4am with a call from MUSC ER in Charleston, SC. Melissa, at the time, was 3.5 hours away visiting family in Wilmington, NC when she received the news that my nephew Micah, (21), had been taken to the ER after being brutally attacked by a group of men just off King St. in downtown Charleston. He became a target for these men after doing the right thing, to protect two girls he recognized as being in an uncomfortable situation. The girls and his friend, who was also present, have confirmed that they did not know these men and they were being harassed by them at the establishment downtown. As they began walking the girls to their home, the men followed them, encircled Micah, and attacked him. He has suffered multiple fractures in his jaw on both sides of his face, and multiple teeth have been broken and lost. They have stabilized his jaw by wiring it shut temporarily while he is awaiting surgery. He will have to undergo dental reconstruction when his jaw has healed. This will be a very long journey to recovery, any financial support is greatly appreciated.
