Hi Family & Friends,

So many of our amazing Friends and Family have been asking how best to help Lee & Tony and have suggested a gofund me, we have struggled through the last 4 months but realise this next part of mums fight and recovery is going to be a long one and we are going to need all the help we can get.

Anyone that knows Lee knows her infection and loving smile that can light up a room, the last few weeks mum has lost that sparkle a little and we want to try get it back for her.

The last 5 months have been what our family can only describe as a nightmare of a roller coaster.

Our Beloved Lee - wife, mum, nan, sister, auntie and friend was taken to GC Private Emergency on the 4th Sept 23 and diagnosed with an aggressive CNS B cell Lymphoma that was pushing on her brain and spinal cord, when mum was admitted she had gone down hill quickly and was extremely confused. We were transferred to GC uni hospital where mum then ended up in ICU for a week after a brain biopsy and brain drain, she then started an intense inpatient cycle of chemo that lasted 4 months, she would have 4 days of chemo and recover for 3 weeks before the next round started. The effect from the chemo & lymphoma has left mum with no recollection of these last 4 months, but still had a cheeky smile for the nurses.

the chemo has shrunk the lymphoma as much as possible and we were due to do a stem cell transplant mid Jan unfortunately due to mum physical deterioration and cognitive damage we are unable to progress with this option. Mum has been classed as high risk of the cancer returning due to its aggressive nature and we want to make every moment we have with her counts. we know she would do the same for us and so much more.

Mum is still in hospital in Rehab with daily physio for the past 3 weeks, the physio has gotten mum to the point where she is able to slowly move with a walker about 10m with guided assistance. We have been told the best we can hope for is mum the way she is now which is limited movement with a walker and 24/7 assistance and cognitive damage where by she isn’t able to retain any current information and extremely confused. We still remain hopeful and will exhaust all options to help mum improve.

Mums recovery and on going care will be a challenge and any help we can get would be greatly appreciated, At this stage the hospital is suggesting a nursing home due to the level of care she will need, we are looking into every option possible to give mum the best care. We had hoped to bring mum home with dad to be the full time carer but due to the high level of care mum will need and with her currently gets up during the night 7-8 times this would leave dad burnt out in no time and he would be unable to do this on his own without on going support.

Any donations will be extremely helpful and appreciated, and we ask you to send positive thoughts and prayers xxx

Thanks
Danielle
