Griffin Scott: Fired for Facebook

I'm Griffin Scott and I was fired for Facebook.

"¨It happened in 2009, after I posted the following status on my personal Facebook page: "I know what the Enola Gay is and that makes me the only person under 40 who knew that in our newsroom. Not sure whether to be proud or not."

"¨I've lived here (northeast Louisiana) my whole life and dreamed about being an anchor since I watched Walter Cronkite in the 70's and 80's. I was really passionate about my job.

"¨But not as passionate as I am about my family and about northeast Louisiana itself. The job opportunities for someone with my experience are limited here. Quite limited. So the desire to stay here, for my wife, for my 4 year old son, for my 20 year old daughter and the rest of my family, have cost me professionally, financially.

"¨When I went to work at Nexstar Broadcasting I signed a contract, a contract that kept me from working in the television broadcasting business for a one year period following the date of my termination.

"¨After my termination, my attorney informed me the contract I signed also demanded that I go through 'arbitration', a private court where a legal issue is resolved outside the local court system. And my contract stated I had to pay for it. In other words, I could have my day in court, I just had prepay for the court, literally the rental of the physical space and more; I have to prepay the arbiter (judge), the court reporter, if I plan to have any witnesses (I do) I have to prepay for the associated cost...and so on. It all adds up to several thousand dollars.
"¨As a result, I've had a lawsuit on lay-a-way for years now, paying a little here, a little there, I've managed to sock away $2075, almost halfway to my goal of $5,000, the amount required to finally have my day in court.

"¨I'm grateful to have a job in this day and age, I was unemployed for almost two years, but today I make less than $11 an hour, I've got several thousand dollars in medical debt, so, in order to keep my wrongful termination lawsuit alive against Nexstar Broadcasting I NEED HELP. And today, I'm humbly asking for your help. The clock is ticking, and time is not on my side.

ANY contribution is greatly appreciated.
