Help us send supplies to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to stop DAPL (Dakota Access Pipeline)
Walk For Mother Earth (a group of grassroots activitsts) are continuing to campaign to get much needed supplies to the camp sites. Already with the help of South Floridians, we were able to deliver much needed water, food, medical supplies, blankets, clothing, school supplies and firewood.
Pretty soon winter will be setting in at the site of the 3 camps who are determined to standing their ground on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.
This movement started out with one campsite, Camp of the Sacred Stones, and is now overflown into 3 camps with a current estimate of 5, 000 people according Chairman Archaumbalt of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
When we last took them supplies, they were almost out of their firewood and there was already a chill in the air. The camp volunteers expressed worry for storing their supplies which were mainly stacked in the open covered with tarps.
In the tradition of the Sioux people they have a sacred fire burning which can not be allowed to go out. We had arrived just in time with the 4 pallets of firewood we took.
We already have a supplier for the firewood who is able to deliver a semi-trailer full of firewood. We need the funds to cover the cost of the firewood and delivery charge. We are also seeking to ship as much plywood and supplies as our donation drive can provide for, for them to build sheltor.
This issue affects all of us. Many of you may not be aware, the company behind the Dakota Access Pipeline is the same company that will be involved in the Sabal Trail Pipeline we are defending against here in Florida. Also thru Social Media the world has been witness to the horrible tactics this company will use and go to in harming the people and desecrating sacred burial sites of the indigenous people.
Just think this can happen anywhere in the United States to anyone, and it is. We are seeing that happen to many ordinary citizens who try to prevent the pipeline from crossing their lands, and their lands being taken thru emminent domain.
We are hoping with your kind contribution we can raise enough funds by Sept. 30th, 2016 to get the supplies there safely before the winter weather sets in. Any amount you are able to contribute is greatly appreciated and accepted with much humbleness.
