My mom is a retired school teacher. She worked in the nuclear industry for the Kerr-McGee Nuclear Corporation during the Reagan era without EPA protections. She worked with hazardous chemicals as a chemist. She is now suffering from lung cancer. Given her health conditions at 85 years old, chemo is too hard on her body. There are targeted medications that have a chance at defeating the cancer, but we are having trouble getting it through the insurance approval process, and the Trump tariffs have resulted in no medicine shipments coming into the US. These medications are very expensive in the US. We are also applying to clinical trials to search for alternatives. This money will be used to help with medicine costs and/or travel expenses for the clinical trial. My mom will donate any extra money not used to cancer research for children.
