Alyssa (Berg) Jouppi is a 28 year old wife and mother of four healthy active boys ages 18 months to 7 years old. Alyssa is 20 weeks pregnant with her 5th child. She, her husband Brandon, and their children Tristan, Levi, Wyatt and Jack face an uncertain future for their family.
Alyssa was diagnosed with Placenta Percreta the most severe and rare type of Placenta Previa. In this condition, the placenta has attached to the outside of her uterus onto to her bladder and could expand to attach to other organs as well. She and her unborn baby are at high risk for hemorrhage and death.
Alyssa's treatment plan will improve her chance for survival. The plan involves an activity restriction, frequent monitoring of her condition and the baby's condition, relocation to the city of the specialty hospital and child care.
If the plan goes as expected, baby Noah will be born at 30 weeks by C-Section and will be in NICU for a period of time. Then, under general anesthesia Alyssa will undergo a hysterectomy, surgical removal of the placenta from the bladder & other involved organs. The bladder and other involved organs will then be repaired. She was told that a large surgical team will be in the OR. She will require multiple units of blood during the operation and possibly life support during her recovery.
If the plan does not go as expected, her care could become even more emergent requiring immediate life flight to the hospital before the 30 weeks for emergency care.
Alyssa and Brandon work very hard but may not be able to earn the money needed during this difficult time. They are in desperate need of prayer and financial support. Her condition is precarious and their insurance will not cover all of her medical treatment. They will need money for medical care, travel expenses, housing needs and child/family care expenses. Please offer generous support to this cause and may God bless you.
