Hello Community! After 15 years of hoping and planning, I am realizing my dream of having my own commercial kitchen and I could use some help! During the pandemic I not only lost most of my work opportunities, but I also lost my rental kitchen. Determined to have a little more control over my fate, I started the process of applying for the permits necessary to build a kitchen in my back yard. It has taken 2 years, but I paid for the building permit today 11/17/23!!!

In the intervening years it has taken to get to this point, the cost of building materials and the cost of borrowing money has skyrocketed, and the truth is, I need some help to get this project to the finish line. As many of you know, I have spent the majority of my working life supporting mostly non-profits. I have always felt that I benefited from the work being done, something I refer to as Social Capital, and that supplemented the limited earnings the non-profit world supplied. Can you help me transform that Social Capital into liquid capital?

I have fed thousands of people over my 20 plus years cooking for groups like the Student Conservation Association, The Mankind Project, Van Go, Kansas Women's Environmental Network, the Climate and Energy Project, The Kansas Rural Center, The Conference on Consciousness, The Kansas Audubon and Sierra Club. I have donated my time and energy dozens of times to help organizations whose work I supported, and now I am needing help. So, if you have ever enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by me, here's an opportunity to give me a tip!

While I have saved enough to get the building up, I will run out before all the the finish work is done. Money raised will go towards buying equipment, complying with codes, paying for drywall and insulation and any number of other large and small costs that I don't even know yet.
