Abbie's Medical Expenses

This is my niece , Abbie Kathrine. Abbie is going to be a senior and is looking forward to having an active , exciting senior year. However, she was diagnosed with gastroparesis in April of this year. Unfortunately, treating this with drugs was unsuccessful. She struggles with unbearable stomach pain and was hospitalized for a few days. She has been referred to a specialized clinic in Milwaukee, but it may take as much as three months to be seen there. While she waits for that appointment Abbie has had a feeding tube inserted so that she can get much needed nutrition without having to try to eat. Eating causes her horrible pain.
This process has been extremely costly. Between deductibles and co-payments, her parents, Mark and Karen, have already piled up thousands in medical bills. Karen has missed work for appointments and the hospital stay. They recently learned that the formula Abbie needs is not covered by insurance because it is considered "food". It is about $3 per can and she needs 8 cans per day. They are looking into a few programs to receive some formula but there aren't a lot of options. Since she will need the formula for a few months, the total cost of formula could easily be over $2000. This is in addition to other medical costs.
Abbie is a happy, peppy girl but without being able to eat she has suffered from low energy and is struggling to stay positive . Please help Abbie to thrive during this difficult time. All money will be used to pay for Abbie's medical expenses.
