GET KIDZ DANCING NEEDS YOUR HELP
Hi my name is Kelli Dixon and I am the principal of Kelli Dixon Academy of Dance/K.D.A.D Stage School which is an independent dance/performing arts academy established for 27 years and run by me and my team of teachers plus trainee teachers. We also have a project Get Kidz Dancing which assists in funding under privileged children and young adults who want to dance, sing and act. The effects of Covid19 has had a devastating impact on schools such as mine but more importantly on the children and young adults who attend classes and are now missing out on interaction and confidence building with their peers, the discipline and expression of themselves through dance. I have been running virtual classes online through Zoom and have received encouraging feedback from parents and students which is heartwarming in these times. As I am sure you’re aware all West End shows and theatres throughout the country are temporarily suspended and entire casts are unemployed. I am deeply gratified that I have been able to invite some of these performers to act as guest teachers in our KDAD stage school online sessions. This has been of great benefit and excitement to the students attending and also to the performers who are delighted to be offered work and share their performing skills and experiences with our students. Of course, these performers need paying and as a small business owner I cannot sustain their fees indefinitely and ultimately will need to increase our current fee for unlimited access to live classes and in person classes when our venues do open to support the future of KDAD. To enable our students to continue to express themselves through the medium of dance and to have some normality in their life we are turning to you for some financial support and to help protect our students, families, disadvantaged youngsters and out of work performers. We continue with our Online classes and connecting with our students, for some this is the best part of their day. Our rented halls are currently closed and still working on an opening date, we look forward to the day we can return to normal. If you are able to make a donation no matter how small, we would be so very grateful.
