As many of you in the CHIME community know, Keely and Mike Arevalo's baby girl Scarlett was born with a tumor in her heart. She is currently at UCLA in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Keely means so much to our family. Because of Keely our son Nico was able to communicate for the first time at the age of 10-years-old. Before he began to communicate, Nico was thought to have an intellectual disability, but because of Keely, we soon learned that he did not and he is now fully included in High School receiving straight A's. Mike was also one of Nico's paraprofessional that supported him at CHIME and was crucial in Nico being successful in school.
Keely and Mike have supported and cared for our children at CHIME, now it is time for us to support them!
I am hoping to raise at least $5,000 for them to have a hotel room close to the hospital for naps and showers, food, and any other expenses they might accrue, to make this very difficult and stressful situation just a little bit easier for them.
There is no way to know at this point how long Scarlett will be hospitalized. Please give what you can and share with others. Most of all, keep this AMAZING family in your thoughts and prayers.
