Kira Santibanez has developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome which is a very serious illness caused by an allergic reaction to a prescription medication. This illness is very rare and affects one in a million people. The illness causes a painful burn-like rash on the skin, eyes, and mouth and has to be treated in a burn center.
Kira was admitted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center on April 26th and spent 3 days in ICU and was transferred to the hospital's burn unit April 30th .
Kira lives in Greenfield with her dad, mom, and sister, who have been spending everyday at the hospital. Kira's mom has not been able to work since the illness started and her dad has taken several days off to spend time at the hospital. Her sister, Kami has also missed work to spend time at the hospital. Now we are just trying to take the time to reach out. Let's help Kira fight this battle!
