Help Josh Heal
My name is Rashae, I am the wife of Josh Peterson. We don't normally ask for help, we try to just manage on our own; but, unfortunately, Josh has been in a tragic accident recently. Late Saturday (November 5, 2016) he was found by our good friend on the cement ground by the Chemeketa Parkade on Commercial St in Salem, Oregon and our friend called 911. Josh was taken to the Salem hospital ER with the belief that he had fallen from the second level of the parkade, luckily that was not what happened. We are not 100% positive on how he got hurt but we think he fell down the stairs that were nearby. Josh was sent to ICU (Intensive Care Unit) with pneumothorax, no gag reflex, some stitches on his left eye lid and left hand, right wrist bone is chipped, Traumatic Brain Injury, and a severe concussion. After 2.5 days, he was transported to NTCU (Neuro Trauma Care Unit) after he had his tubes removed, passed his neurological test, and was able to talk. He is still suffering from a bad concussion and will be in this unit for a few more days and then off to rehab. He is still struggling cognitively, but he is physically fine. The biggest worry we all have now is post-concussion syndrome due to having multiple concussions during football season in High School, but only time will tell how well he will recover. It has been a really hard road for me and Josh, transitioning from Kentucky, where we were stationed, to Oregon. (US Army at Fort Campbell, KY). And now our road has been even more difficult and our life will forever be changed. I am so grateful for the progress he has made and grateful that he is still here on earth. The staff at the Salem Hospital have been taking very good care of him. It is a very difficult time for us and we cannot afford the medical bills and our living with just me working. He will be out of work for 6 or more weeks and there is a possibility he might not work again (praying this doesn't happen). Please pray for Josh and all his loved ones and help us get through this one day at a time. Thank you.
