My name is Yesenia mother to a beautiful young lady by the name of Sarah. My beautiful teen was diagnosed with generalized epilepsy and absence seizures at the age of 6 years old about 1 month away from turning 7. I can still remember that night. We laid down in her bed to go to sleep for the night. She finally fell asleep and I stayed with her. I suddenly heard her for what sounded like she was choking on saliva. At that point I thought she needs to clear her throat so I tapped on her back and told her Sarah but she was not responding. At that moment I realized something was wrong. I picked my baby up and turned on the lights and she was drooling and not responding. After a minute or so she came back to her normal self although she was still a little out of it. I freaked out called the family and took her to the ER. Our life completely changed from that moment on. My daughter has suffered from seizures ever since. As her mother I suffer from a constant fear that is always present always on edge. I remind my self god is in control and try not to allow anxiety and fear consume all of me. Is she okay is always on my mind. Our home consist of constantly asking her if she’s okay and checking on her endlessly. It’s an overwhelming fear for all of us. Despite her condition she is such a bright child very independent to the best of her abilities, very responsible and has a passion for cooking and baking. I’m blessed to have her as my daughter. She’s beyond helpful in so many ways. Our constant fear is that she will have a seizure and we won’t be there to catch her and will hurt herself. We have recently discussed purchasing a service dog that could help her and warn her before she has a seizure so she can sit or lay down so she won’t hurt her self. I created this go fund me because she requested me to do so. In hopes this will help us fundraise for her service dog. We are currently still researching programs that can provide her this special companion. After looking into this I was surprised to find out how pricy these special skilled companions are. It is in fact very costly and can range between 25-50k no way I could never afford this. As my daughter requested I have created this account in hopes that we can collect enough funds to attain this special service dog for Sarah. Anything would greatly and so kindly be appreciated.
