Janet's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Janet Schuller Williams (daughter, mother, sister, friend). For those of you who know my sister, and more importantly for those who don’t, she is the most energetic, giving, helpful person that I know. I have seen her time and time again reaching out and helping others whether it be family, friends, co-workers or agencies that ask for volunteers. She never stops…until a few weeks ago.
Janet was in an ATV accident while on a camping trip with her niece (my daughter) in mid-August. Both Janet and Kasey were taken by ambulance to the local hospital ER with injuries. Janet was immediately put on a life flight to the closest trauma center which was Fargo ND. She suffered a significant brain injury, brain bleed along with numerous broken ribs. She spent a week in ICU and the CCU. While there she regained enough physical strength to be transferred to an acute rehab center in Minneapolis, MN. During rehab the goal was to rest the brain and ready her for transition to home. Thank you for all the love and prayers that came our way during that time and continue to be shared as the journey continues.
This week she made it home. Doctors say Janet needs intensive therapy to try and regain as much of her cognitive skills as possible. Her therapies will include speech (cognitive), occupational and physical. We are hopeful, and she is working hard at regaining parts of her brain each and every day. Her medical team says that It will take time and persistence and this will be a long journey.
Janet is currently on unpaid Family Medical Leave from her job with no income to pay the incoming medical bills and her normal living expenses. She worries every day about this and I am afraid that additional stress is not good for her recovery.
Janet is a ‘giver’ not a ‘receiver’ and will never ask for help. So as a family, we are doing the best we can and are asking you for help on her behalf. It is our wish to raise enough money to cover expenses for the next several months so that she can focus 100% of her energies on her therapies, getting stronger and finding her new normal. We share our heartfelt gratitude for any assistance you are able to provide.
Without a doubt, once she is able, she will ‘pay it forward’ in whatever way she can, as she has always done in the past. So thanks in advance to family, friends, friends of friends and strangers who find it in your hearts to help her!
For those who wish to donate directly to Janet, please do so in care of her sister:
