Thank you for supporting my new documentary film \"Finish Line: The Rise and Demise of Off-Track Betting.\"
YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED
The film is in the development stage and your generosity gets it started. Between research, legal fees, pre-interviews, and other crucial start up costs, at least $5,000 is needed to begin. Your gift would be coming in at the beginning of this whole project! Then it\'s on to phase two of the fundraising campaign for pre-production.
WHAT IS THE STORY OF OTB?
Run by New York State, Off-Track Betting or OTB was the only legalized bookie in New York for nearly 40 years. But something went wrong. OTB went bankrupt and closed its business on December 7, 2010, causing statewide economic disaster.
How did that happen? How did the State Legislature allow a billion dollar a year company go bankrupt?
\"Finish Line: The Rise and Demise of Off-Track Betting\" will tell the story of OTB\'s rise from one betting parlor into an empire and its tragic demise.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
Please tell your friends to donate to this project. In the upcoming days a Facebook page, as well as other social media pages, will be set up for the film and you will be kept updated as to where we are at making our goal.
Documentaries depend on the generous support of people who help spread the word and raise the funds. Having lost my job as a bookie at OTB I can tell you that this is an incredible story which needs to be told.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
