Our brave girl Scarlett has been fighting an uphill battle with Sturge-Weber Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes seizures and affects blood vessels in the brain. Despite everything she faces, she’s bright, talkative, funny, and full of love a little ray of sunshine who charms everyone she meets.

Over the past year, Scarlett’s seizures have worsened. After many tests, hospital stays, and changes in medication, her doctors at Rady Children’s Hospital discovered that her seizures are functioning like mini-strokes on one side of her brain. The next step is an MRI, followed by a meeting with neurosurgery to decide whether a hemispherotomy a complex brain surgery will be the best way to protect the healthy side of her brain.

While we wait for those next steps, we’re also pursuing a second opinion from Dr. Anne Comi, one of the leading specialists in Sturge-Weber Syndrome. Dr. Comi’s review of Scarlett’s medical charts costs $808 and if we need to do a telehealth we’ll have to travel to Nevada, since she’s not licensed in California.

Between medical expenses, travel, meals, and time off work without pay, the financial strain is growing. We’re creating this page to help cover:
Lost wages from time off during testing and recovery
Gas, lodging, and meals for medical travel
The second-opinion consultation and potential travel to Nevada
Ongoing therapy and rehabilitation support

Scarlett’s parents have fought tirelessly for answers and better care, pushing for every test and advocating for what she needs. Now, we want to make sure they have the support they need to keep going emotionally, logistically, and financially.

If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing Scarlett’s story. Every little bit helps lighten the load so her family can focus on what matters most: helping this sweet girl heal and thrive.

Thank you for being part of Team Scarlett your love, prayers, and encouragement mean more than words can say.
