JENNA'S BATTLE NEEDS YOUR HELP
Donation protected
Jenna Hand and Mike Shay, college sweethearts, were engaged to be married in January 2015. Two months later, while planning their engagement party, life changing news was delivered. She was diagnosed with Adult Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer typically found in young children. With all the odds against her, Jenna’s battle began. She endured harsh and debilitating chemotherapy, followed by surgery with the hopes of a full recovery. On December 28, 2015, after a year of fighting, Jenna rang the bell! Thinking her battle was over.
In June of 2018, Jenna married Mike in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Sadly, following their honeymoon, she was informed by her doctors that cancer had returned. After finishing radiation treatment Jenna then endured five major surgeries to remove the cancer, a few lasting 18-20 hours, requiring the removal of bones in her face, arterial veins, and the need for reconstructive surgery. After treatment and surgery, Jenna spent a month in the ICU followed by intense rehabilitation for two years. The therapy involved re-learning to eat, talk, and walk again, something a 33-year-old should not have to repeat learning. But Jenna kept on fighting, never complaining.
In March of 2020, Jenna was called to battle cancer for the third time. This time spreading to new areas of her body and facing stage 4 terminal cancer. She again is not complaining and began a new fight , determined to beat her enemy.
Medical victories and ongoing treatment are costly and events out of our control such as a pandemic, can take the wind out of our sails, and take our jobs. As medical bills and living expenses pile up, Jenna and Mike are asking for your help.
These donations are intended to mitigate the stacking medical bills, allowing Jenna to focus on her healing and recovery. Thank you for your support, and please keep Jenna and her family in your prayers.
