On behalf of our fellow daycare mom, Kayla Harvey, we are coming together to support her and her two young children, Joella and Tanner, as they begin the long process of rebuilding after an unexpected house fire destroyed their home.

Just days ago, Kayla’s garage caught fire due to faulty wiring. In a moment that can only be described as divine protection, Kayla—who never falls asleep on her couch—happened to drift off while watching a show. That small change in routine saved her family’s life. She woke up to the smell of smoke and discovered the house already filling with it. The alarms didn’t go off until the flames were large, and had she been asleep in the back bedrooms as usual, the fire could have blocked the hallway and trapped them inside.

Kayla and her children made it out safely, but their home and belongings did not.

Kayla is now moving in with her mom and renting a storage unit while she works to save, recover, and prepare to rebuild a home for her family over the next year. She is strong in her faith and deeply grateful for every blessing and bit of help that has come her way. As she said, “Everything else can be replaced. I’m just thankful we got out and healthy.”
