Eric Update!!

Many of you remember our friend, Eric Magallanes, who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, on his tongue, at the age of 22. After surgery and many months of grueling chemotherapy, radiation, and speech therapy, he was able to re-enroll as a full-time student at Purdue University! Eric’s tenacity and courage have been an inspiration to us all, and as a result, he was the recipient of the 2022 Tyler Trent Award!! In this video, Eric shares his journey and his future goals.

Our Allure Dental team has had the honor of walking alongside Eric, on his journey. We are so thankful for the prayers and support that have been shown. It is our goal to continue to support him all the way through dental school, and beyond! We would appreciate your continued support by helping us share this fundraiser and spread the word. Please join us in congratulating Eric, for this well deserved award

Original Story:
Can you imagine being 22 years old, with your site set on dental school, only to be told that you will need to put the next 6 months of your life on hold, so you can fight a battle against Oral Cancer? And, not just any oral cancer, but the most aggressive type...Squamous Cell Carcinoma. You are going to lose a significant portion of your tongue, all lymph nodes from the right side of your neck and have nerve damage and a scar, for life. This scenario became a brutal reality for our dear friend and colleague, Eric Magallanes, in January 2020.

Eric is such an extraordinary young man. When you need encouragement or a helping hand, he is your guy! If he isn't working one of his several jobs, or attending class, you will find him fundraising or volunteering, in the Lafayette community, with organizations such as Micro Aid or the Epilepsy Foundation of America. Even though Eric had to drop his classes, at Purdue this semester, he still hopes to apply for dental school, within the next year.

While Eric's surgery is behind him, he still has a long road ahead of him. He now faces months of intense radiation and chemotherapy, as well as physical and speech therapy.  His upcoming treatment could require up to 600 miles of weekly travel and/or temporary lodging. All money raised will go towards travel, lodging and replacing lost income and non-refundable tuition.

My Allure Dental team is hoping to raise funds for Eric, because he has become a beloved part of our work family. Since the completion of his dental assisting internship, he has spent countless hours learning and being mentored, in our office. He has brightened our days and warmed our hearts, in so many ways.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Please link arms with us, as we join Eric in the fight of his life.
