Hi, my name is Martyn Dzibij, I'm a reasonably fit and healthy 69 year old, I like to go to the gym and do a bit of cycling. Unfortunately last year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had a Robotic Assisted Prostatectomy in the hope of dealing with the problem but unfortunately 3 months later it had spread to my left shoulder so just like Chris Hoy I now have stage 4 cancer. Which cannot be cured, but thankfully treatment can give me a few more years with my family and friends.
I mentioned Chris Hoy because he is championing 'Tour de 4' which is a fund raising event in Glasgow on 7th September, I have signed up for this event to raise funds for prostate cancer.
I will be cycling the blue course which is 37 miles going from Glasgow out into the hopefully not too hilly countryside and back to Glasgow.
This cause means a lot to me because I was unfortunately diagnosed too late for a successful outcome, I think there should be a national screening programme to reduce the amount of men lost to prostate cancer.
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Prostate Cancer UK, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Prostate Cancer UK: Prostate Cancer UK is here to stop prostate cancer being a killer. One man dies from prostate cancer every hour in the UK and deaths from prostate cancer are set to soar over the next decade.
