Kate's Cancer Treatment Fund
In April of this year, our dear friend, Kate, noticed she had a bump in her underarm. She figured she'd get it checked out to see how to treat it. The doctor examined and after a few tests, she found out she had Stage 3 Breast Cancer. That bump she found was a swollen lymph node due to the cancer spreading into her lymph system and the cancer had moved beyond her breast.
Not too long after the diagnosis, she started her 20 week chemotherapy which she is still undergoing and after she will have 6 weeks of radiation. After that, the doctors will perform another Mammogram and ultrasound to check the progress of her treatment. She does potentially face undergoing a Masectomy of her breast and reconstruction based on her results.
She had just gotten engaged to the love of her life, Casey only two months prior to her hard diagnosis. She is excited to get married (which she sadly had to put plans on hold for right now) and to start a family. Because chemo and radiation can make her infertile, Kate and Casey decided to freeze her embryos to ensure she would have the opportunity to become a mother. (One of her lifelong dreams)
Along with all of her treatments, and losing her hair, the medical bills started coming right away. She is a devoted, fun Spanish teacher in Milwaukee, and she works several waitressing, bartending jobs on top of that!! She is one of the hardest working people I know, hands down. She is still working through all of her treatment and has tremendous spirits and positivity!
We want to help cover her chemotherapy, radiation and additional following treatments so she does not have to worry about the large financial burden. A little bit goes a long way and I know she will be truly grateful for any funds we are able to raise for her! Prayers are welcome as well! Thank you in advance for your help!
